Oh the innocence....

I was watching the local news this am and there was this young, bliss-full, been-together-since- high -school couple on this particular local channel, documenting their pregnancy. There was no story behind the reason for them documenting this on the news other than "to have documentation of the pregnancy" and to "help others" (?)- per the husband. No infertility problems that they overcame (that they spoke of), no multiples, nothing out of the "ordinary". They showed them at their home, at their dr. appointment, the sonogram. She is only 13 weeks & 2 days. On T.V. Her comment was she was "glad they were past the first trimester". My heart sank for her, them. They both do not know what in the world can happen! There is so much that can happen with out such notice, that can break one's heart. They could not pick up the heart beat with the doppler, but could on the sonogram. When they first said that, I thought, shirley not! Then they showed the sono and said there was the heart beat, and a little baby floating around.....

*Sigh*

We saw Little Dales heartbeat on the sono at 6 weeks and heart it on the doppler at 9 weeks and 14 weeks. I to was so glad to be past the first trimester, in the safetly zone. Everything was perfect with no problems, or so we thought. And there still is "no reason" that we lost him, and our innocence, what little we had left.

I do hope that they have a happy ending.

The so-called 'safety' of being past the first trimester has long gone for us. For any of us. Most people don't know that babies can die any time.

We all know there is no safe time.

I felt the same way during my first pregnancy. I even asked the Dr. if everything would be fine after the first trimester and he said sure. You now have a 99% chance of going to term If only I knew. There is no safe stage during a pregnancy. I wish them luck.

It is the innocence that I miss too. I had the fear but it was not as intense as it is now.

No one prepare you for this side fo the story.

I hope they have a happy ending too. I wish we had all been able to keep our innocence in tact too.
